Recycling Toner/Ink Cartridges and Electronics

Do you have an old cell phone, GPS, mp3 player, ipod, laptop or digital camera you want to recycle? Do you have empty toner or ink cartridges from your printer that need to be disposed of?

Send these items to either campus and we will help you recycle them. Each item recycled equals points or cash for the school! Just another way to support LCE as well as being responsible with recycling electronics. See list of acceptable items.

Thank you for recycling and for your support of Lake Carolina Elementary!

School Social Worker

Dear Lake Carolina Family,

My name is Becky Inman and I am your School Social Worker. Many families
in our district either don’t know about or avoid contact with the School Social
Worker. I encourage you and your family to use me as a resource in your school
and community.

A contact from the school social worker does not always mean trouble. I may
be contacting you to offer services, follow up on a previous contact with school
staff, or simply to introduce myself. Just some of the supportive services I provide
include but are not limited to: Backpack Food Program, holiday assistance,
applying for community resources, provide hygiene/personal items, help with
obtaining clothes and shoes, monitor attendance, and assistance with navigating
other school resources. In the next few weeks, I will be contacting some of the
families in our school to introduce myself in efforts to increase awareness of
Social Workers being an available resource in our schools. Please feel free to
contact me if there is anything I can help your family with. I am here for our
students, our families, and our community.

Sincerely,

Becky A. Inman, LMSW

Students will be entered in the contest for every 25 Box Tops turned in. Upper Campus Update

Thank you for helping us establish a routine as a new school!  We have focused our energy on safety as we should and hopefully you have seen that we will continue to make this a priority.  In the days ahead, we will continue to get to know our students using a variety of resources.  All students will be MAP testing in Reading and Math over the next couple of weeks.  You child’s teacher will let you know the specific date soon.

We are excited to have Mrs. Taylor Wagner as a new member of our family.  She will be teaching 5th grade as we have experienced tremendous growth.  We are beyond our projected numbers school-wide and can only expect more growth for our community.  The Town Center at Lake Carolina has started leasing and will have new families moving in by end of the month.

Families living in the Ashland Neighborhood have expressed concern regarding speeding vehicles and children being dropped off in dangerous locations.  Please be careful driving as we want our students safe and secure.

Our district has shared with us details from the Healthy Hunger-Free Act of 2010.  A district committee will soon be providing us with direction with regards to this policy.  Our district has asked us not to serve snacks during breakfast and lunch.  Our lower campus recently communicated that snacks brought to schools by families must be served during recess.  The upper campus wants to maintain consistency and follow this practice as well.  Of course, please keep in mind that we have students with food allergies and healthy snacks are always best.

We have heard from several of you regarding email sent out from our Blackboard Connect System.  Please make sure our communications are not going to your spam.  We will need updated contact information, but you should be providing this when you complete Infosnap.  Thanks for keeping in touch.

Boosterthon Weekend Challenge

This weekend the Boosterthon team gave Lake Carolina Elementary a school wide challenge: Students who earn $2 pledge per lap (or $60 flat donations) over the weekend will receive an additional bonus prize, the All Day Flex Frame Sunglasses!

You can also download our HeroSteps app on your mobile device which contains all of our character videos. We are excited to learn more about being a great community while raising funds for our school.

The Boosterthon Fun Run is September 11th! Our students and staff are super excited!
