Richland Two Parents

If you have not already done so, please login to Parent Portal to complete the annual student information update. It is important to complete this process before school gets out for the summer to prevent delays in your student’s registration for the 2016–2017 school year.

This process includes providing proof of residence, verifying student information and reviewing and completing parent or guardian agreements. If your student’s information has not changed from the previous school year, you still need to log into the system, confirm your information and review agreements that must be completed each year as required by policy or law.

If you have any questions about the annual student information update process visit the Enrollment and Registration page on our website or contact the registrar at your child’s school.

Parents of Rising Sixth Graders:

South Carolina Immunization laws require a tetanus/ Tdap vaccine for all students prior to entering the seventh grade. Please schedule an appointment with your child’s physician to obtain the required vaccine. Once your child has been vaccinated, bring a copy of the updated shot record to your child’s school nurse.

One (1) dose of Tetanus/Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) administered on or after the 7th birthday will be required for all seventh graders.  It is strongly recommended that adolescents who have not yet received a dose of Tdap vaccine be immunized in advance of this requirement.

PTO Corporate Programs Update

The end of the school year is fast approaching!!! We wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all for your participation in collecting items that generate funds for our school. Through Box Tops for Education, Labels 4 Education, and recycling juice pouches and so on, you have helped fund our fun PTO sponsored events, purchasing new items that our classrooms need, and helped make our school a cleaner place in the process!

Campbell’s Soup has announced that they will be phasing out the Labels 4 Education program. It is sad to see this program end that has benefited schools for 40 years, but the program will continue somewhat. Changes that will be made are yet to be announced. So, in this last month of the school year, please gather all your labels that have been hanging out in your pantry or junk drawer, and send them in to your child’s teacher so we can make the most of the program points available for this school year.

As we approach the end of the school year, please continue to send in you Entenmann’s Little Bites pouches, Coke product bottle caps with rewards codes, and ,of course, box tops. We have time for one more Box Top contest! It will begin May 6th and continue through May 18th. No matter how you turn them in (a baggie, envelope, or collection sheet), please include your child’s teacher’s name so credit can be given.  Also, check the dates on items in your pantry for June, July, and August 2016 expiration dates and turn those in now. Let’s finish this year strong with our best collection yet!

Thank you--
Susan Keim, PTO Corporate Programs- Upper
Stacey Gilchrist, PTO Corporate Programs- Lower

Fundraising Update

With our students' hard work and your very generous contributions and efforts, LCE PTO raised more than $36,000 through Boosterthon this year. Those dollars were earmarked for general school improvements at both campuses, and we have decided to make the following purchases:

* $10,830 on leveled books for early readers for Lower Campus. This will provide our Kindergarten and First Grade teachers with a much-needed variety of books for their students.

* $14,818 on two sun shades for the back playground at Upper Campus. These UV-blocking shades will cover the existing playground equipment, which is often too hot for our students to play on.

We decided to reserve the balance of funds raised for future needs of our two campuses. Look for these new items on both campuses in the fall. Thank you for supporting our school with such enthusiasm!
