Lake Carolina Lower and Upper students will be given a log at school in Friday folders or print a copy at Book Log.
  
Each student that reads 6 books and returns the completed form will be entered into this statewide contest.

Lower Campus Reading Challenge

Did you complete the Richland Public Library summer reading challenge? If so, bring your medal in a baggie with your name on it to the Media Center!  We will have a reading celebration Friday, September 7, for those who turned in their medals. All medals need to be turned in by Wednesday, September 5.

Also- the media center is looking for selfies! If your child has a public library card, please take a picture of your child holding the card for a display. Email Mrs. Knutson at sknutson@richland2.org

College Colors Day

Wear the colors of your favorite college to school tomorrow, Friday, August 31! 

Across the United States, on the first Friday of each college school year, students, parents, family, fans and alumni observe celebrate National College Colors Day.  This day is annually celebrated by wearing your college’s (or the college you support) favorite colors and college/university apparel.

School Improvement Council

The School Improvement Council is a group of parents, teachers and administrators who meet monthly to discuss ways to improve the school. The group is seeking volunteers to serve for the 2018 – 2019 school year.

All bio's must be received by noon on Friday, September 7, 2018.  The SIC meets the first Friday of every month from 7:30-8:00am alternating between campuses.

Volunteer Orientations

Are you interested in volunteering this year? If so, you must attend one of the two Volunteer Orientations.

Aug. 28 at 5pm at Lower Campus
Aug. 29 at 8:15am at Upper Campus

Fall MAP Testing

The fall session of the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment will be next week.

Please make sure your child is at school on scheduled testing days, has a good breakfast on days of testing as well as adequate rest the night prior to testing. Thank you!

Lower Campus: 
1st and 2nd Grades: Reading and Math tests the week of August 28 and September 4th.  Please look for more specific dates from your child's teacher. 

Upper Campus: 
3rd, 4th, 5th Grades: Reading on Wednesday, August 29 and Math on Thursday, August 30.

PTO News: Volunteer Orientation and Spirit Wear Orders

Calling all LCE parents, grandparents and relatives! Are you interested in getting involved in your child's classroom and/or school? We have amazing volunteer opportunities throughout the entire year at both campuses that may be exactly what you're looking for. So many of our school events would not be possible if it weren't for our amazing volunteer team which is made up of wonderful people just like yourself! If you are interested, please complete the  Volunteer Application and bring it with you to ONE of the following Volunteer Orientation sessions. For your convenience, we will be sending home a volunteer form in your child's weekly folder. 

     -Tuesday, August 28th at 5pm at the Lower campus

       OR

     -Wednesday, August 29th at 8:15am at the Upper campus

Medications at School

Medications may be kept in the health room and administered during the school day.  If you would like to keep medication in the health room please fill out this form and bring to the school nurse.  If the medication is not over the counter, the prescribing physician must also sign.  If the medication is over the counter, a physician's signature is not required.

Open House 2018-19

Open House is a drop-in on Monday, August 20th from
4:30-6:00PM on both campuses. This is a time for your family to meet your child's teacher(s), drop off school supplies, sign up for after school activities, check bus routes, etc. 

For all school fees, please use Parent Portal.
