USC String Project Beginner Class Information

Notes from the Nurse

Dear Gator Families,

As we approach the fall months, many of our students may have allergy or cold symptoms due to seasonal allergies and weather fluctuations. It is important that we as a community continue to be mindful that COVID-19 symptoms can also look like typical allergy and cold symptoms. If your child has seasonal allergies and is prescribed allergy medication make sure you contact your provider for any refills they may need. Please utilize our symptom checklist daily at home to screen for symptoms that would require your student to stay home from school. Additionally, please note that if your student has a fever, NEW or worsening cough, loss of taste or smell, or difficulty breathing they should not attend school. Please contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns.

7 Mindsets at Upper Campus

LCE Upper Campus will be focusing on 7 Mindsets to help all Gators be their best this year. The first of the 7 Mindset focus will be "Everything is Possible."  Over the next four weeks, students will be learning to Dream BigEmbrace CreativityThink Positive, and how to Act & Adjust.  The 7 Mindsets curriculum is based on a 3-year research effort, concluding that happiness, meaning, and success are predicated on people's ways of thinking.

For more information and ideas on how to reinforce the Mindset of "Everything is Possible" at home, please see this attachment.

National College Colors Day is the Friday before Labor Day. This is a day that encourages everyone to display their team spirit by wearing the colors of your college team's colors and clothing.

Celebrate AVID College Colors Day at LCE on Friday, September 3! Students, teachers, and parents can show their team spirit and the mindset of "Everything is Possible" by wearing the colors of the schools they support and/or are interested in. Technology Insurance Fee and Charges for 2021-22

All students will be assessed a non-refundable $20 technology insurance fee to cover the cost of device repairs. The technology fee plan provides 100% repair cost coverage for the first instance of accidental damage to the student’s school-assigned computing device. The plan also covers the cost of device replacement in the event of theft, provided a police report is filed.

The cost of repeat instances of device damage will be assessed according to the full cost of repair. The deadline to pay the technology insurance fee is September 30 of each school year. The technology insurance fee cannot be paid after September 30.  The fee is in your child's Parent Portal account (parents.richland2.org). You must  complete the purchase before September 30, 2021 to have insurance on your child's chromebook this school year. The coverage period for technology insurance begins as soon as the premium is paid in full, which must be done no later than the September 30 deadline, and runs through September 30 of the following year.

Students that returned damaged chromebooks to the school since school began on August 18 and have not used the technology insurance fee from last school year, have had devices replaced by using the unused insurance plan. If the student did not have insurance or used the one instance last school year, the cost of repair for the chromebook has been placed on the student's Parent Portal account.

Students that have lost or damaged chargers will be issued a replacement charger  and a fee of $25 will be posted in their Parent Portal accounts. Insurance does not cover the charger, only the chromebook.
