Recycling at LCE

Do you have empty toner or ink cartridges from your printer that need to be disposed of? Does your business have printer cartridges that are empty?

Send these items to either campus and we will help you recycle them. Each item recycled equals points or cash for the school! Just another way to support LCE as well as being responsible with recycling and reusing. See list of acceptable items.

Thank you for recycling and for your support of Lake Carolina Elementary!

Read Your Way To The Big Game

Have you turned in your reading log for Read Your Way to the Big Game??? Don't worry, the deadline has been extended, so students can turn in forms on Monday, October 31st if needed.

This is an easy challenge for LCE, because we know our students are reading! So, fill out the reading log (only 6 books) and return it to your child's teacher. Our school will be entered into the drawing for $2,000 for library books if we get at least 70% participation, so let's go Gators!

Have a great weekend!

Active Gamecocks Update

From the South Carolina Gamecocks Athletics Department...

(We) hope your school year is going well and no one was severely affected by Hurricane Matthew. While we did have our first Active Gamecock women’s soccer match this past Sunday, we know many couldn’t make it because of the conditions around the state. For that reason, we are opening up our Thursday, October 27 game against Ole Miss to our Active Gamecocks.

Students can use their vouchers we have already sent and we will still have the drawing for football tickets as well as prize pick up at the game.

Our women’s team is on an historic roll this year with 13 wins, ranking number 2 in the country! This is a team you will not want to miss.

Fantastic Boosterthon Fun Run

Our Fun Run was a BIG success! We are currently at a profit of over $34,000. This is less than $1,000 from our base goal and a mere $6,000 away from our stretch goal.

Good news.... IT'S NOT TOO LATE to get pledges and Boosterthon has added an extra incentive. Any student getting $2.00 per lap in pledges (equivalent to $60 total) by 8:00 am on Monday, October 17, will receive a Boosterthon draw string bag in addition to any other prizes that they earn. Any prizes earned by Monday will be distributed on Wednesday, October 19. Please consider getting pledges from family, friends, and co-workers to get us the rest of the way to our goal.

Our Boosterthon helps in so many ways. Not only do your students get fabulous prizes and have fun with their classmates, but our teachers earn up to 15% of their classroom's proceeds to be spent in their classrooms, the campuses get leveled readers, playground shades and murals, and Boosterthon is donating over 100 meals to needy people in Columbia, SC. In addition to those great things, if we hit our stretch goal of $40,000, Dr. Berry and Assistant Principal Shannan Bright will go SKYDIVING and all the teachers will enjoy a catered, duty free lunch.

All pledges are due next Tuesday, October 18th. Collection envelopes went home with your student and check funrun.com for payment options.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Boosterthon Sunday Challenge

Parents, we hope that you and your loved ones have weathered the storm safely and that your kids are rested and ready to come back to school. Despite the break, we are still moving forward with Boosterthon fundraiser as planned . We are confident that it will still be a huge success. If you recall from last year, the 1000 year flood impacted our Boosterthon Fundraiser, but in true Gator Family fashion, you all come through like champs & it was a great success despite the weather & timing. We imagine this year will be no different.

As we shared via the video and blog post from Double Dog Devin & Matt & Cheese on Friday, there was a weekend challenge for our students. Students can receive an additional reward if they got $2 per lap in pledges this weekend. If you haven't logged in your pledges yet, do so tonight for the extra prize. Also, if you haven't registered your student at funrun.com it's not too late. Simply log in to funrun.com and enter our school code of 189-497 or search our school by name at funrun.com.

Thank you for your Boosterthon support and your cooperation as our community helped our state weather this storm. We look forward to seeing your children tomorrow at LCE and hope to see you at the Fun Run on Wednesday, October 12.

Upper Campus Amazing Me Day

Lake Carolina Upper Campus Amazing Me Day

We will be celebrating our amazing students on Thursday, October 13, 2016

What is Amazing Me Day?

  • Students complete a project at home about THEMSELVES!
  • The project can be on (almost) ANYTHING...anything that makes the student feel amazing can be presented.
  • Some ideas to consider are students’ passions, hobbies, interests, families, cultures, or strengths.
  • The project should be completed in the form of a poster or display board.
  • We encourage parents to work with students to create the display, but please allow the student to take ownership.
  • Every child will have opportunities to share their display and see the work of other students throughout the school.
  • While this project is not graded, the purpose is for students to show pride in their work and display what makes them amazing!
  • This is their chance to shine!

Boosterthon Fun Run

The Lake Carolina Fun Run kicked off Monday with an exciting Pep Rally, and we are thrilled about this year’s program! We’ve asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run program (which will last about two weeks), making our fundraising simpler, more profitable, and more fun. Our Fun Run includes all students in a fun, team-building, fitness event while helping our school raise much-needed funds. This year, our entire school is raising funds for leveled readers (Lower Campus), murals and playground shades (Upper Campus). Our goal is to raise $40,000, and we need YOUR help! Together we can reach our goal!!

Here’s how you can support LCE:

Register your student on funrun.com. To log in pledges, please register your child on funrun.com, using our school’s registration code: 189-497 or you can search for Lake Carolina on funrun.com. Students receive a FREE GIFT just by having their parent or guardian register them on funrun.com.
Reach out to sponsors. Connect with 10 sponsors. You can use social media in the pledging process and even create custom videos—all of this is on funrun.com. Be sure to capture and record each sponsor’s e-mail address. They will also have an easy opportunity to pay for your student’s pledge by credit card online.

Ask your child about the BACKYARD BOX OFFICE Character Act of the day! This year’s character theme is Backyard Box Office, a movie theme about making a difference by getting into character. Watch the fun videos with your child on funrun.com.

Come to the Fun Run on October 12th! All students are invited to participate, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and we would love for you to come out and cheer.

Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to see you next week at the Fun Run!

Sincerely,

Lake Carolina PTO
