Important News from the Nurse

ATTENTION PARENTS (especially if you have a 5th grader):
There is a change in immunization requirements for middle school students that will affect your student.  All 7th grade students must have one dose of Tdap vaccine.  Students can start receiving this vaccine as soon as they turn 7 years old and they MUST have it to start 7th grade.  SC DHEC is providing the following information in advance of this future immunization requirement.  This requirement began with the 2013-2014 school year.

One (1) dose of Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) administered on or after the 7th birthday will be required for all seventh graders.

We are sharing this information with you in advance so that as you take your children to the pediatrician for their well visits, this can be addressed.  This vaccine is also available at local Health Departments.

If you have questions, please call the school nurse, Kathy Waldrep, RN  at 714-1300 Ext: 3010.
