School Improvement Council
Our School Improvement Council (SIC) is looking for parents who are willing to work with a collaborative group to generate ideas that will help improve our school. If you are interested in serving on our SIC during the 2017-18 school year, please submit a personal biography by Friday, September 22. SIC meetings are once per month and usually last 30-45 minutes. Please include your name and the current grade level(s) of your child(ren) in your submission.
There is one SIC at each campus of Lake Carolina Elementary.
Submit lower campus (K-2nd grades) bios to Cathy-Ann Shannon at ashannon@richland2.org or to the front office.
Submit upper campus (3rd-5th grades) bios to Jeff Williams at jpwilliams@richland2.org or to the front office.
Bios of nominees will be published in The Communigator Blog with a ballot form for voting.
This is a great opportunity learn more about our vision and get to know administration, teachers and community members. Thank you for your consideration!
Just 2 Days Left
We are in the home stretch of our fundraiser - - just 2 days left! Thanks to your generosity, we have reached our weekend challenge of $30,000. Wow!! To celebrate this goal achievement, tomorrow students get to take their shoes off in their classroom and PTO is supplying the bubble gum for chewing in class too.
The classes and grade levels are enjoying the friendly competition of this fundraiser. The class on each campus that raises the highest amount per class/per student gets a Cici's lunch party at school. Help your child's class win this prize!

Parents Visiting Classrooms
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to schedule a classroom visit in advance with their student’s teacher/counselor/administrator. The person scheduling the visit should notify the receptionist that works with Lobbyguard.
- If parents/guardians have scheduled a visit in advance, the following procedures apply:
- Parent signs in with Lobbyguard.
- Parent is issued a Parent Acknowledgement Form to sign if it is their first visit of the school year.
- Parent is issued a visitor sticker to wear throughout their time on campus.
- Parent is escorted to the classroom.
- When the visit is over, parent signs out with Lobbyguard.
- If parents/guardians have NOT scheduled a visit in advance, the following procedures apply:
- Parent signs in with Lobbyguard.
- Parent is issued a Parent Acknowledgement Form to sign if it is their first visit of the school year.
- Parent is issued a visitor sticker to wear throughout their time on campus.
- Administrator/Counselor is notified of parent wishing to visit class.
- Administrator/Counselor escorts parent/guardian to the classroom and invites them to share any concerns with them following their visit.
- When the visit is over, parent signs out with Lobbyguard.

Upper Campus MAP Testing
Upper Campus students will take the NWEA MAP Reading on Thursday, September 7 and MAP Math on Tuesday, September 12.
Please make sure your child is at school on scheduled testing days, has a good breakfast on days of testing as well as adequate rest the night prior to testing.
PTO Tuesday Update for Read Books to Raise Bucks
To wrap up our Read Books 2 Raise Bucks fundraiser, LCE will have a READ IN on Friday, September 8. All students are invited to wear their pajamas to school and enjoy a "Read In" in their classrooms. The goal is to give students time to complete any reading goals that they set for themselves during the fundraiser. Your teacher will communicate details with students this week.
We are more than half way to our $50,000 goal. Thank You!
The money raised will be spent in the following ways:
We will announce the results of our Weekend Challenge on the school's morning show on Wednesday.
Additionally, any students who met the Weekend Challenge goal of getting a NEW $25 donation over the weekend will receive their free Cici's kids buffet coupon in class on Wednesday.

We are in the final week of our Read Books 2 Raise Bucks fundraiser,
so lets make this week count!
