For the October challenge, we are encouraging you to do a family project that combines literacy and creativity! This month's challenge has 2 parts.

For this project, you will need:

    1. A fake pumpkin (real ones rot!)
    2. A favorite children’s book
    3. Various craft items to decorate your pumpkin

Safety in Richland Two

Safety is our top priority at Lake Carolina Elementary. In accordance with district procedures and expectations, we are carrying out safety drills to include: fire drills, lockdown and lockout drills as well as emergency weather drills. Safety drills are conducted on a regular basis in order to ensure that our students and faculty/staff will know how to respond should a situation arise.

We also want to ensure that our students are safe from threats. Parents, we are asking for your help with this. Please take every opportunity to speak to your child about the importance of school safety. Help us encourage students to not joke about school threats or make statements in haste. This includes comments that may be made on social media. These comments, even if made in haste on social media, carry the same consequence.

In Richland School District Two, safety is no joke and no one should ever joke around about causing harm at any of our schools nor to our students, employees, and visitors.

Thank you for your support of our school and Richland Two.

Vision Screenings

According to the standards of school nursing, throughout the school year, school nurses complete screening of student’s vision, hearing, dental, and blood pressure based on recommendations issued by SC DHEC. Some schools collaborate with the Lions Club to provide vision screening. The Lions Club uses the SPOT camera, which quickly and efficiently screens a student’s vision. You may click the link below to learn more about the SPOT camera. If you do not wish to have your child to participate in screenings, please let your school nurse know.
