PTO Letter to Parents

Welcome back to an exciting year at the Lake!  Last year's Boosterthon Fun Run raised an unprecedented $33,707.37 for our school.  Because of this tremendous result, the PTO did not have any other major fundraisers.  At the time of our fundraiser, we did not yet know that our school would be split into two campuses, therefore our fundraising goal was to replace aging playground equipment.

However, when the school district decided to split our school, they also decided to retrofit the playground at the Lower Campus to safely accommodate the younger students.  This meant we did not need to use the funds we raised for this purpose.  It also meant that we could use the money to meet others needs of our schools.

While the school district did provide a lot of upgrades for the new campus, they did not provide the little extra touches that make our schools so inviting.  Therefore, Mr. Williams asked that we provide money to have murals installed at the Upper Campus.  The PTO paid $7,800.00 to have these beautiful murals completed.

Mr. Williams also asked that we assist with the costs of creating an open grassy space for students to play soccer. We provided him with $3,762,32 for this project.

Additionally, safely navigating between the two campuses has been a major concern of many of LCE families.  We were asked by the School Improvement Council (SIC) to fund the purchase of two solar powered speed limit signs.  We provided the SIC with $5,690.00 for these signs.

At this time, we currently have $16,455.05 remaining from our Boosterthon earnings.  That money has been earmarked to provide sunshades for the playgrounds on the Lower Campus.  The process has begun to get these items purchased and installed as soon as possible.

We have successfully been able to use all fundraising proceeds to equally provide for the needs of both campuses and all of our students.  But we still need your help.

With our 2014-2015 Boosterthon starting next week, we need the same level or more of participation that we had last year.  We are continuing our partnership with Boosterthon because we believe that their message of community, fitness and friendship are ideals that we want our children to learn and support.  The students loved the Boosterthon team and are excited to being doing this again.

Please support our schools and your children by securing pledges for our Boosterthon Fun Run.  GO GATORS!
